The Tape Deck '16: Volume #6

Gotta say rest in peace to one of Brooklyn's finest - the one and only Abe Vigoda - on this special edition of The Tape Deck. Volume #6 features ONLY New York-centric rap music. Artists like Roc Marciano, Joey Bada$$, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, DMX, Agallah, Sean Price (r.i.P!), Westside Gunn, Your Old Droog, Memphis Bleek, Pumpkinhead (r.i.p.), and many, many more offer plenty of variety - yet retain that trademark New York identity. Enjoy... and as always... Turn it up!!

The Tape Deck '16: Volume #5

Been a hectic two weeks in The Life of Ivan™. Sorry it took me so long to get you a new volume of The Tape Deck. But here it is! Track 1 is a not-so-serious 2Pac remix to Kanye's "Real Friends" that got taken down by Soundcloud damn near as quickly as I uploaded it LOL. The rest of this selection is pretty solid. I dunno if you've noticed, but I've tried to raise the bar on Tape Deck-worthy tracks. I don't like lowering expectations - and you shouldn't either! Enjoy... And as always... Turn it up!!

The Tape Deck '16: Volume #4

Volume #4 is here, with the people's champ, Aaron Gordon, featured on the cover. You can't tell me that man didn't deserve to win the Slam Dunk Contest. C'mon, now. Real heads know. Aaaaaanyway... Volume #4's got 40 tracks to keep All-Star weekend (and the rest of your week/month/year/life) popping. Underground and mainstream forged together as usual. A delicate balance that's got one thing in common: quality. Enjoy... and as always... turn it up!!

The Tape Deck '16: Volume #3

Being that it's Super Bowl 50 week, I just haaaaaad to drop some new music for you. Volume #3 is 2016's most consistent mix yet. Everything from D.I.T.C. to some more Anderson .Paak (recently signed to Aftermath!) to new Freddie Gibbs (somebody please mix this with Kendrick's bars from the original) to a sneak peak at the loooooong-overdue Kickstarter album from Elzhi (where the f***k you been, bruh!?) to Puffy with the Lox (what!?) to the Meek Mill/Drake diss records - and plenty more! In typical alphabetical fashion, we close things out with Your Old Droog's Nu Shooz-sampling "42 (Forty Deuce)." Amazing track. All in all enjoy this 2+ hour-long mix of great new music, and as always... Turn it up!!

The Tape Deck '16: Volume #2

The greatest, most consistent (barring 2015, heh...) online mixTAPE series is officially back! Enjoy! Here's just a few notes and recommendations based on this volume of The Tape Deck: 1) Fans of Ka ought to support his new 2-track release, The Superfly Single, here. 2) Anderson .Paak's album is out. It's good. Very, very good. Check out my GIF review if you haven't by now and make sure to cop the album. 3) Freddie Gibbs sat down with NPR to discuss a range of issues. Highlight of the interview: "I don't think that I get put up there with the J. Coles and the Kendrick Lamars and guys of that nature when I definitely think that I'm rapping on they level and definitely higher." 4) Z-Ro's new EP is dope, but you already knew that.

Aight, that's all for now. Enjoy Volume #2... And as always... Turn it up!!
