R.I.P. Filesonic

The government's shutdown of Megaupload has led to a domino effect which hit close to home today: Filesonic has disabled its file-sharing feature. In essence, Filesonic now offers nothing more than personal cloud storage. This really sucks because I spent a sizeable portion of the year uploading my mixtapes, sample sets and volumes of The Tape Deck onto Filesonic. With Megaupload, Fileserve AND Filesonic out of the picture, it seems my hands are forced. This REALLY sucks because I JUST completed my ten Best of 2011 compilations and was about to begin uploading them tonight. Fuuuuu-

Got any questions or suggestions? Hit the comments section... Thanks for understanding.

  1. I'm so pissed off having paid for a 6 month Filesonic account.

I don't have files uploaded but did have a lot of nice files queued up in IDM ready to DL.

The uploaded files you have should still be there. Hopefully they'll enable sharing again in the future.

Which horse to back now? Is this DL era over?

  2. Yep. Being that all my files are original/unique compilations, they haven't deleted a thing (that I've noticed at least).

    Regardless, I'm stuck right now...

    SMH...

  5. Damn, this really sucks. We can't thank you enough for what you do, Ivan, but I can honestly say that I'm glad I'm not in your shoes because knowing you, you're gonna' find a way to continue doing what you do, but that means finding a new site that's worth the hassle, and then uploading your files again. I think you should get a whole squad of people to help you upload everything, ha!

  6. mediafire
    hulkshare
    filepost
    depositfiles
    uploaded.to
    netload
    upload station

there's shiploads of sites that do the same thing as filesonic and megaupload. some are better than others (*cough* mediafire *cough*) but they all do the same job, they can't shut them all down

  7. mediafire has a 200mb cap on uploads. alot of my uploads are > 200mb. also: they've been around since as long as megaupload. it wouldn't surprise me if they get shut down too.

hulkshare is primarily for mp3s. i wouldn't rely on them for 100s of large files.

  8. rapidshare has been awesome lately, they fucked off the wait between downloads and no 30 sec wait to get started either. they have been around a long time and have survived several shut down attempts.

like i said there's heaps, but i don't know the details about them like the media fire limit etc.

  9. Multipload! It automatically creates mirrors for your files, as well as providing its own direct-download link

  10. But where is the Hip-Hop Round Table?

Maybe I've just not seen it, but it hasn't been here last couple of Fridays?

  11. why don't you use torrents? you can set up your own tracker, or just use TPB...

It would be so much easier to download ...

  16. Thank you, Barack Obama, good job crippling the internet!

    Vote for Ron Paul!

Oh wait, the elections will be manipulated anyway. Again.

  17. I would go with Rapidshare, it's not the best but it looks like one of the most stable, probably will last longer than other sites

  18. Rapidshare is Swiss right? Nobody can touch that surely?

I was a happy RSer for years. I may have to go back.

Warez=BB will guide me. Wherever the uploaders go, I will follow.

  19. dj takes no requestsJanuary 23, 2012 at 1:33 PM

Mr. Obama, our President with a bar in constitutional law signs off on indefinite detention of American citizens, extends provisions of the USA PATRIOT Act (a clear violation of our constitution and bill of rights), and is attempting to shut down the internet. Seriously, people when are you going to realize their divide and conquer strategy? It made total sense to present a Black man as President. People were so mad at the 8 years of Bush. Now with Obama, most Blacks (and I have many, many, many who I dearly love and are my best of friends) remain silent on the issues and the majority co-sign him ! ! ! ! Seriously, filesonic shutting down is bigger than hip hop.

  20. Fileserve owns Filesonic Filejungle and a bunch others. I believe they got shook and i can understand that. But i highly doubt the feds are going after any of the others anytime soon. Megaupload's demise was of personal interest to UMG who is a huge corporation therefore has our government in their pocket. Not a conspiracy, real talk. Mega was about to launch a site that would allow artists to monetize off free downloads. They had the next level in the industry's evolution ready to go and that would have put UMG in a bad way because they refuse to get with the times. So they got the feds to bust Mega out of fear. And also that stupid kanye siss beats video didn't help, plus Mega had a lawsuit against UMG over a youtube video takedown.

So yeah, this was a personal issue so no need for the others to get all shook.

But everyone needs to learn about ACTA, a law the US already passed and when the other countries do too, thats the end of our internet freedom completely. Don't sleep, each one teach one, NWO was not a joke nor a conspiracy theory. Wake up the sheep!

  21. also, co-sign what "dj takes no requests" says... But it doesn't matter that its Obama. If its a Republican things will get 20 times worse 20 times quicker, especially for us non rich people.
