Lack of updates here at Hip Hop Is Read are fully to blame due to my new-ish 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. work schedule. Yes, you read that correctly. I wanted to finish this sample set a couple of weeks ago in unison with Traffic Entertainment Group's impressive box set/deluxe re-issue of Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth's Mecca and the Soul Brother which hit record store (huh?) shelves on the fourteenth of this month. Check out their promo video:
Pretty cool, right? Cop that with the quickness! Now admittedly there's some overlap between this sample set and the Diggin' in the Crates with Pete Rock compilation I dropped a little while back. Interestingly enough, there's also a fair share of overlap between this set and the Low End Theory joint I just finished putting out. Great minds dig alike. This set was originally compiled in 2008, with forty-one tracks. We've now got fifty-five samples for your aural enjoyment. Nothing tops that Tom Scott horn riff though, huh? Enjoy... and as always, turn it up!!
