What's New from Stones Throw Records?

Mayer Hawthorne offers his own spin on Tony Bennet's classic “I Left My Heart In San Francisco” to commemorate the grand finale of his two-month long tour, ending in Frisco. To celebrate, Mayer and Stones Throw have teamed up with Huf and Freegums, releasing a t-shirt and MP3-loaded, heart-shaped USB. More info at Stones Throw.

In other STR news, Madlib is dropping the fourth installment of his Medicine Show series titled The Medicine Show No. 4: 420 Chalice All Stars aka Son of Super Ape, set to be released on 4/20 - very appropriate. Aside from the great music (of course), Show No. 4 will contain a directory to marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles. Burn one! Also, be on the lookout for upcoming albums by Aloe Blacc (Good Things) and Guilty Simpson (OJ Simpson)! Preview all three of these projects below:

MP3: Guilty Simpson - "Cali Hills"
MP3: Aloe Blacc - "I Need a Dollar"

  1. Supporting a company that wages war on blogs?

How much did they pay you Ivan? Cuz if they ain't payin for shine they shouldn't expect any love from people who they wage war against. My stance is there should an all out ban against ST and their artists until they learn to stop attacking the hand that feeds them. If weren't for the blogs nobody would know who ST were. Now they shut down blogs? F**K ST & PBW

  2. I hear where you're coming from, but my position is if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Sure their policies piss me off. But there's no denying that they put out some damn good music. Besides, if you're smart enough, you'll use other venues (i.e. not blogs) to find their music *for free*.

To answer your second question: I'm not getting paid. :D
