Fall back with that played out snitching argument... I ain't even reveal the tracks that Dilla used these samples for. Just enjoy the music and turn your hating down to 0 for the day. Peace.
I don't understand why people think that bringing up the samples is in any way disrespecting Dilla. One of the great art forms of any great producer is where they get their samples from. And like it's been stated, the tracks don't even show what songs these samples belong to. I dig it, keep it up HHIR!!!!
If you google any of these tracks ALONG with "dilla", you'll see that this has been common knowledge for years. I haven't revealed anything - I just compile. Eat with me or eat a box of bullets.
This isn't exposing samples because he doesnt state how Dilla sampled them. Exposing each thing that DIlla did to flip it would be disrespectful. This is for people who enjoy good music and want to learn from their idols
none of this is disrespectful. what's disrespectful is never giving credit to the ORIGINAL ARTISTS. it should be public knowledge who sampled who. i also want to know the "Thought U Wuz Nice" sample. Every time I hear an original song that was sampled it's... AMAZING! Why would you want to deny people that joy?
Anyway, thank you, Ivan. And if you know the "Thought U Wuz Nice" sample i would appreciate you posting it.
Or even sending it to my email... "matt_tebbetts@hotmail.com"
Not to Re-hash an old argument but this is not disrespectful at all. Dilla would tell you what samples he used because no one in the world chopped & flipped samples like him...Great compiling and yes all of these are common knowledge. Mad Props!!!
Dunno how Dilla felt about revealing samples, neither am i advocating to keep that on the dl, but his friends have released some live mixes playing the samples too, eventually someones bound to ask what the sampled song in that set was. Questlove even made a playlist of originals that ppl sampled from, including his close friend James Dewitt Yancey.
happy birthday jay dee!

ReplyDeleteif the samples are uncleared then guess what?...if producers wanted these sample sets released they would do it themselves!
