The Massacre [The Samples]

You'd be hard pressed to find a Fiddy fan who likes The Massacre more than Get Rich or Die Tryin'. I sure as hell ain't one of those people. But I will admit that The Massacre had its fair share of hits - and a lion's share of great production. A notable beat by the late Disco D immediately comes to mind, as well as contributions by Dre, Rotem, Tek, Storch, Em' and more. The production quality on The Massacre didn't quite grab the listener as it did on GRODT, but it definitely had some bangers, many of which were built upon soul samples. For this reason, I just had to give it a shot and put together a sample set for The Massacre.

The final result is pretty impressive. Here we've got a sizable dosage of obscure R&B and soul records, along with some hip hop main-stays. I'm speaking in particular about the intro segment to Eric B. & Rakim's "Paid In Full (Seven Minutes of Madness - The Coldcut Remix)". For those that don't know, that interesting "doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo..." that you hear at the beginning of "...The Coldcut Remix" -- along with Fiddy's "Candy Shop" -- comes from a remix of its own, taken from "Ooh, I Love It (Love Break)". Have fun looking for it, as it's tucked in there kinda sneakishly. Here's a hint: it's in the second half of the track. I dunno why, but I just love searching for those little nuances, which later become hip hop must-know knowledge. Here's some trivia concerning the production for "Candy Shop": The track was produced by Scott Storch, presumably in his Miami studio. He was with Fat Joe who pushed Scott to include the "Love Break" sample into the intro to "Candy Shop". This tale was recollected by Fat Joe on Hot 97 (if I'm not mistaken), back in '05. It's ironic because on that same album, 50 Cent would go after Fat Joe, prompting a "beef" that is still yet to be resolved.

Anyways... I've also included in this set the song "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face" by Coldplay, because although it wasn't sampled for "God Gave Me Style", it definitely served as an influence. As always, lemme know if I left anything out. And as always, turn it up!!
