Busta Rhymes & Q-Tip: The Video You Need to See and the Misconceptions You Need to Dismiss

Yes, that's a video of Busta Rhymes kissing Q-Tip. To be specific, that's Busta Rhymes kissing him on the forehead. Pause?

Play. No, rewind. I've gotta send a big SMH to all the haters out there who are quick to pull the "fag" card out right about now. I've always believed that people -- men, specifically -- who misinterpret male bonding as hints of homosexuality have important issues that they need to address on their own time with a shrink. Issues buried deep, deep, deep down the recesses of their minds. And being that rap music can be so homophobic, I find it odd that often times its imagery is so incredibly homoerotic. How many of you guys treasure that 2Pac, 50 Cent or LL Cool J (I could go on and on...) album in your music collection? How many of you guys have posters of them up on your walls? You know, the images of shirtless men flexing their muscles for your oogling contentment. That's a big yes homo right there. That's what she said. Or he said.

There used to be a time in hip hop where dudes could wear some raggedy-ass clothing and huddle around one another trading rhymes and flipping lyrical witticism. Not homoeroticism. Male bonding. This is the school that Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip come from. Now, Lil Wayne? Maybe that's another story...
