MUST LISTEN: Damu the Fudgemunk - Overtime

I'm knockin' myself for not doing the proper research on this soulful cat right here up until now. The producer for Y Society's 2007 venture Travel at Your Own Pace (one of my favorite albums of last year), Damu the Fudgemunk has got the soul, skills and crate-digging depth to be the East coast counterpart to Madlib out on the West. Unique and strictly funky, Damu the Fudgemunk is one of the nicest up and coming producers in the game that I've heard of in quite a while; if Damu doesn't become a household name within the next couple of years or so, something is seriously wrong with the scene and state of hip hop as a cultural group. For those that missed out on Damu's early-2008 release Spare Time, here's a download link (courtesy of Berkeley Place) or at the official Wonka Beats blog right here.

But Damu has got even more heat in store for y'all, in the form of a new compilation entitled Overtime which can be found right at the source: Wonka Beats! I'm listening to this joint as I write ("Colorful Storms" to be specific -- beautiful composition on Damu's part) and I just can't recommend it enough. But don't just take my word for it. Legendary producer Marley Marl had these words to say about Damu the Fudgemunk:

It don't get much better than that! So without further adieu, I urge y'all to check out Overtime as soon as possible. Play it loud... TURN IT UP! 9 instrumentals + 2 vocal tracks + 2 video clips = musical bliss. Enjoy:

P.S. h/t to John for reachin' out!
