Diggin' in the Crates with... Volume Four: J Dilla

Today we mark the four year anniversary of the passing of King James Yancey, a.k.a. Jay Dee, a.k.a. J Dilla. The previous sample compilation pulled from Dilla's rock and electronic digs. Volume Four contains nothing but soul and funk. One hundred samples in all, fifty and fifty, capice? Dig on, Dilla... turn it up!

  4. YO BRO THIS IS DJ SOUL CATCHER, AND I RUN "http://www.thasession.blogspot.com/".
HEY BRO DO YOUR DANG AND CONTINUE TO DO IT,
THERE IS ALWAYS GONNA BE HATERS. USE THAT ENERGY
AND PULL MORE SAMPLES OUT THAT BAG. IF A COLLECTOR
OR DJ OR PRODUCER OF JUST A FAN OF MUSIC CANT
JUST HEAR A SAMPLE IN A TRACK, THEN THEY REALLY
DONT LOVE WHAT THEY ARE DOING. BACK IN 2003 2004
I MADE A GRIP OF SAMPLE MIXES AND I HAD LOCAL
PEEPS GOING TO LOCAL RECORD STORES ASKING THE
STORE OWNERS TO TELL THEM WHAT THE TRACKLIST WAS.
THERES REAL AND THERES FAKE, KEEP IT REAL BRO.

  5. I understand bof sides.. on one hand.. sample obscurity adds allure and complexity to the track... if ur confused about the origin of a sound... u listen to it more... become more curious.. besides that, the fact that some of these samples weren't cleared.. If Dilla was still alive, I'd think he'd wanna keep it that way... not that record companies dont have their own plp searching for uncleared samples... Dont think he'd appreciate the help.. but on the other hand.. I DO!!!! (speaking for those of us who've been looking for originals on Dilla for like 15-20 years!!!!)
