Prior to yesterday's game three showdown at the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Suns coach Alvin Gentry offered some rather, um, unusual words about trying to defend Kobe, Pau and the mighty, mighty Lakers:
It’s almost like being a dike, you stick a finger in one hole and water comes out of another one... We’ve just got to find a way to have a whole lot of fingers, I guess. [Source]Whaaaaaaaa(t)? I've done my best to try to counter or critique these words with your run-of-the-mill smug, blogger-patented snarkiness -- especially as a Lakers fan -- but my mind takes me to strange, strange places as I attempt to unravel the many layers of Gentry's what-the-fuckedness. I stand in awe. Well played, sir. Well played.

I'm pretty sure he meant this story. A dyke is what they call levees in Europe I think.

Yeah, I know what he MEANT. Still, it's kinda odd. It'd be like if I told a story about a faggot, referring of course to a "bundle of sticks": http://www.thefreedictionary.com/faggot
ReplyDeleteI was planning to take a closer look at some Dutch dykes. Imagine my disappointment when I got there and not a ho' in sight!
ReplyDeleteYou know that us Brits love to munch on faggots. Faggots are eaten by many Brits regularly for dinner. I've never sampled one myself but I hear they are pretty tasty...

Haha I didn't think of the Dutch story at all, I just thought dude was fucking crazy...
ReplyDelete"It's just like being a faggot. You can grab you stick, but then you have to grab the other stick..."
this is a pretty common metaphor. stick to the smple sets ivan.
ReplyDeleteyeah this analogy has been used since before you were born homey. not odd at all
ReplyDeleteeither way its hillarious
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: It's not the metaphor that is strange, its this dude messing it up to sound very suspect.
ReplyDelete'It’s almost like being a dike, you stick a finger in one hole and water comes out of another one...'
Like BEING a dyke? Do you see?
Are you guys like the people who didnt get the ending of Lost?
I guess they found a way to grow more fingers these last two games, eh?
ReplyDeleteFunk Doc: Never watched lost playa playa. And do we see? i think we see perfectly and find it to be a typical laker fan hating. wow Dyke and dike you got us there. basically it's a post for no reason to call out something for no reason for something that isn't a big deal for no reason.
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm not a basketball fan. I don't know who this guy is. I don't even thinks it's that much of a big deal.
ReplyDeleteBut the point is he said 'being a dyke'. Not dealing with a dyke. Being a dyke. That's why the quote is odd and suspect. The guy is messing up his metaphors and turning them into some lesbian scenario with himself as the dyke.
Didn't mean to be rude by the way.
Yeah that one even got me??
