100 Miles and Runnin' [The Samples]

How fitting that our 100th sample set is N.W.A.'s 100 Miles and Runnin'. Okay, okay: I'll admit it! I picked this one on purpose. But it all makes sense in the world of Ivan. I've just finished up a 16-page term paper on the Rodney King beating of '92 and the sky in Los Angeles is currently set ablaze. Time for some gangsta rap samples!

As gangsta rap sample sets go, this one's tiny. It's only eighteen track thick. Why? Well, because N.W.A.'s 100 Miles and Runnin' was an EP with only five songs. Soak it in: This is a gangsta rap sample set that you can actually fit on a burned CD. This set's got plenty of gangsta rap classic samples by the liked of Marva Whitney, James Brown, Funkadelic, Kool & the Gang and many more. This one's got some unique ones as well. We've got a classic by The Last Poets called "Run, Nigger", along with a hilarious stand-up segment by the filth-ridden humorist Andrew Dice Clay. Also, this set gives me the opportunity to finally share Rufus Thomas' famously used break on (you guessed it!) "The Breakdown" (I've included both parts of this track just as I always do with Marva Whitney's "It's My Thing")! That about wraps it up. Drop me a comment if ya dig, and don't forget: Turn it up!! Enjoy!
