To defend McCain (ugh, I can't believe I am doing this):
There was no history prior to 2003 of Sunni-Shia violence in Iraq, at least not at the magnitude that we saw after 2003. Reason being Saddam held everyone down.
We were greeted as liberators by the Kurdish minority in the north. That is a fact. But that is also a small percentage of the total Iraq population. So McCain was right, to a point.
I'm voting Obama, but I didn't think those weren't his best points of the night.

Reason being Saddam held everyone down. How so? Through violence perhaps...?
ReplyDeleteSunni/Shiite violence has existed for quite some time.... It was a dumb thing for McCain to say.
