Testing, Testing: HTML/Comments

We've got a new feature that I'm kinda proud of... A new setup for posting comments. If you check HHIR as a whole page (that is, showing all our recent posts on one page, not individual posts), you'll still have to click the 'comments' link at the end of each post to open up the pop-up comment box. But! Our new feature can be seen if/when you check individual posts. Like other sites such as Wordpress, we've now found a way to offer an inline/built-in comment box. This way you don't have to be hassled as much as before to leave a reply/comment.

Give it a shot (let's use this post as the guinea pig)... Lemme know what you think!

Thanks!

ISSUES:

1. I'm still not sure how to get rid of the scrollbar...
2. ...

  2. this kicks ass!! if you have access to the source code you might wanna take a look at the javascript parameters for scrollbars ...

  3. Oh believe me... I spent about an hour trying to tweak it. I can only get rid of the scrollbar if I turn it off and set a high px length. But that's not effective because it can either be too long or too short.

Do you know of an auto-sizing term in HTML that can get me to achieve that?

  4. Hi Ivan, iframes are pain in html but if you have got full control over the html we can try a few thing, look for the following code in the page template.

    iframe height='100%' scrolling='yes' src='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=3790021311115201711&postID=6795503742658502778&isPopup=true' style='border:none;' width='100%'>

and try and replace it with

    iframe height='100%' scrolling='auto' src='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=3790021311115201711&postID=6795503742658502778&isPopup=true' style='border:none; height: 100%' width='100%'>

let me know how that goes if that doesn't work we could try some css stuff.

  5. Tried that. For some reason, adding the "height 100%" thing does not. It tells the frame to be 100% of the possible size of the window screen (thus not going above or below it). You know what I mean?

  6. Hey Ivan if you do have full control over the html and javascript you are are able to put into your templates, I am more than happy to write some custom JavaScrip and html to handle this for you.

  9. Awesome!

For a much-need point of reference, I based it off of the work from this guy:

  10. Hey Ivan, I have done a basic show/hide example using jQuery.

you can download the code from here.
    http://www.respectmine.com/resources/temp/comment-show-hide.zip

All I am doing his hiding the comment div as the page loads, and then when you click the post comment link it then shows the comment div.

The code is pretty simple but if you have got any questions feel free to hit me up on msn (dcconz@hotmail.com) or aim (dom@d-c.co.nz)
