Wikipedia seems to support the idea... Shouts to HHIR supporters ;-D

Sample:
She's Leaving Home by Syreeta Wright (Beatles cover)

  1. yo, calling out samples on the internet is wack. common's got the #1 album in the country, so i would guess that these samples are cleared, but the vast majority if hip hop, especially indie shit, is not cleared. people get busted and put out of business becuase of posts like these. as a reader of this blog, i know you're a hip hop fan, so why you trying to get this shit fucked up?

  2. Well, as of yet, I've only upped samples by artists who DID clear them... Besides, it's not like I'm the one discovering the samples. I typically find them by searching through either www.the-breaks.com or wikipedia.... The info is already out there. I'm just upping the two songs so people can not only compare, but learn about hip-hop and the beat-making/production process.

That and the cool photoshopped pics...

  3. are you serious?

    calling out samples?

first off its giving credit to the first artist, and secondly, it gives the beat makers credit for artistic integrity.. or creativity at least..

as a producer.. who cares.. its all music, some cats just wanna get heard.. and this by no means would be "fucking" things up, especially being that.. all of this is dealt with by the label's lawyers..

now if me and you were to do the same thing, we'd be fucked and yea.. i guess i can understand your sentiments from that standpoint, but aside from that..

if your biting samples and not paying for shit, and then selling it commerically..

    YOU SHOULD GO DOWN.

your stealing work and not giving credit..

but if you payed for clearance.. by all means.. this is public work.. its obviously going to be dissected.. it isnt meant to hate.. its so you can learn.. and hopefully a return of more of the boom bap era.. (my wish at least)

    peace.

no offense at all meant by any of this to anyone.. just being real.. think about it
