Sample Set #157

The HHIR Army is TOO STRONG! Peace to everybody who lent a hand on my movie snippet request. E.B. and Big Speech came through with the cobra clutch to inform me that "One Time Two Meny" excerpted an episode of The White Shadow - a TV show that I'd never heard of until they brought it up! You can catch the full episode here. Thanks, guys!

Okay, where are we? Ah, yes! Uncle Sam's Curse. After dropping sets for Livin' Like Hustlers and Black Mafia Life, it was about damn time that I hit you up with the joint that brought along the classic cut "Black Superman" - arguably ATL's most recognizable track (and my personal favorite from their discography). Featuring snippets from the aforementioned White Shadow TV series, as well as the films Against the Wall and Mississippi Burning, this set is peppered with some prototypical west coast samples by artists like Funkadelic, Ohio Players and Zapp. Download and enjoy. And as always... turn it up!!

For more info on Above the Law, Wikipedia is always a safe bet. I'd also recommend DubCNN's 2008 interview with Big Hutch (here). More recently, our friends over at HQ Hip Hop conducted an interview with Hutch just a month ago - a must read (here). Once again, a big thank you to E.B. and Big Speech for knowledge - two digger extraordinaires!
