Casual Musings on Sarah Palin’s “Notes”

Over the weekend, the Tea Party held a convention with guest speaker Sarah Palin. We all know about Palin’s “hand notes”, but before I get into that lemme just remind you: the Tea Baggers held their summit at the Gaylord Opryland. I’m not saying anything. I’m just saying. Moving along…

As if it wasn’t embarrassing enough that Sarah Palin criticized Barack Obama for his use of a teleprompter while reading poorly-scribbled words off of her own hand, the sheer fact that she’d face difficulty in remembering the words “Energy”, “cuts”, “Tax” and “Life American spirits” for an interview she had plenty of time to prepare for – which, might I add, was served to her on a silver platter in front of a friendly audience – is laughable. Sorry for that ridiculous run-on, but, I’m in one of those mavericky moods, don’cha know (golly gee willikers)! The only conclusion I’ve got for these third-grade shenanigans are that the questions she was asked were given to her in advance. So she wrote these “theme” words as a cue to jog her mind to start spitting out GOP talking points: “Energy – good”, “Cuts – good”, “Tax – bad” and so on.

But questions still arise: Why did she cross out “Budget”? Would it have been too wordy for the wingnuts to comprehend? Did she really need to remind herself that lifting American spirits is a good thing? For what it’s worth, I’m surprised and somewhat reassured that she at least spelled these words correctly. How hard do you think Barack Obama laughed when he saw this? I hope he wasn’t eating a pretzel at the time…
