The Top 20 Hip Hop Albums of 2000

I'm an '80s baby who grew up in the '90s and came of age in the '00s. While my interests in hip hop were born in the early-to-mid '90s, this past decade shaped my taste and preferences in the genre. Over the next few days, I'll be dropping lists of my top 20 albums for each year of the decade. Some of them are sentimental picks. For the most part, however, I'd like to think that my lists represent the development of my appreciation for hip hop as both a fan and critic over the past ten years. I'll start with 2000 and work my way up to 2008. My 2009 post will be the grand finale, so to speak, to cap off the decade and begin a new one. What will 2010 bring? Let's not worry about that just yet. Let's take a final look at 2000:
