Sample Set #143: Stankonia

Bitch, stay off that blow... BREAK!

This album came out in 2000, back when I was in 8th grade. That still trips me out. "So Fresh, So Clean" was my anthem for the year and in fact was the first ringtone I purchased -- back when they were just shitty .midi files -- for my newly-acquired brick-sized Nokia cell phone. This album, along with Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP, was on heavy rotation for over a year. Their sheer contrast complimented one another, at least for me. OutKast's rock/funk/gospel-influenced music was a delight for my spring chicken ears. Production being handled by Organized Noize and Earthtone III, samples were kept to a minimal. But the tracks that did feature samples? Well, you're gonna trip as soon as your hear 'em. I had always thought that "So Fresh, So Clean" was an original composition. Until recently. Boy was that a treat... As usual, Dom and I have hooked up yet another OutKast sample set to get the stank out to the music-fiending masses. Dig in and turn it up!!
