Samples

I was nine years old when Biggie got gunned down just a few blocks away from where I used to live. I was already in bed, but my mom was up watching Saturday Night Live. And then... gunshots. Needless to say, I was up and wondering what was going on. The following morning, the news coverage described it all. The only Biggie song I knew back then was "Hypnotize", and I wasn't much of a rap fan as I am today. So as you can imagine, his death didn't mean as much to me as it did others. But I always remained cognizant of the impact of Biggie's death, both for me (the experience was shocking) and for hip hop. Ironically, my current residence is not too far away from the hotel where Pimp C was pronounced dead. I hope I'm not cursed.

I'm throwing up this set once again because it's got a new total of 32 samples! Thanks to an anonymous comment from the original post, we've obtained the main sample for "Notorious Thugs" provided by none other than one of the Beat Generation's greatest, William S. Burroughs, a legend in his own right. The artwork was done by yours truly, using Adobe Illustrator. I'm a Photoshop guy, but for the past few weeks I've been trying my luck with AI and vector art because part of my job requires a further familiarity with graphics etc. I just wanted to do something special for Biggie day. I hope you enjoy this music as you toast to the life of the one and only Big Poppa. Turn it up! And remember: the sky is the limit!
