Intelligent Hoodlum - Intelligent Hoodlum [The Samples]

I'm sure you've heard of Illmatic, right? Good. Pop quiz: Who coined that word? If you answered 'Nas' you are... wrong! Huh? That's right! It was a young cat named Tragedy who dropped that linguistic gem back in '88 on a track called 'The Rebel' from Marley Marl's In Control, Volume One. You know Tragedy, a.k.a. Tragedy Khadafi, a.k.a. (you guessed it) Intelligent Hoodlum. Tragedy dropped his eponymous debut album back in 1990 with production from Marley himself as well as Queens' own Large Professor. The album was complex and innovative, shedding light and social commentary every which way. In my honest and humble opinion, this album doesn't get the props it should. And since Intelligent Hoodlum was put together by such acclaimed producers, what else could I do but come up with yet another one of our sample sets. So here it is! Intelligent Hoodlum's samples. This set is kind of short, but it's worth the quick download. My personal favorite at the moment is the William DeVaughn oldie which has been sampled by several West coast emcees along with a relatively recent Ludacris track. As usual: great album, great samples. Enjoy!
