Hip Hop Karaoke NYC's YouTube Channel

If you've never heard of the Hip Hop Karaoke show in New York, here's an explanation from the site itself:

OK, so what exactly is HHK?
Ever wanted to rhyme your favorite hip-hop joint on stage in front of a cheering crowd? Hip Hop Karaoke is a monthly event that lets you get on stage with a DJ, hypeman and the original instrumental and show your skills on one of hundreds of classic and current hip-hop songs.

I just stumbled on HHK recently. While looking for some Rhymefest videos on YouTube, I found this great clip of 'Fest performing the Biz Mark's "Just A Friend" on the official Hip Hop Karaoke YouTube channel.

They apparently get a lot of rapper guest appearances, including Jeru the Damaja (doing "Top Billin'"!), Masta Ace (doing Black Moon's "How Many MCs", Big Daddy Kane & O.C.

Here's another video of HHK regular, Daniel aka RDJ, doing every single verse of "Triumph."

Jaw dropping.

Bonus: GRANDGOOD hipped me to this interview with the co-founders of the show. It's an interesting read.

The official site for the site is here. They're hosting a HHK championship on January 25th in New York, judged by Ralph McDaniels, Dres (of Black Sheep) and Prince Paul. Go here for more details.
