Nas - Stillmatic [The Samples]

Back by popular demand....... again!

The fans rejoiced when I dropped The Blueprint's sample compilation, but here at Hip-Hop Is Read, I like to keep things Fair & Balanced (© Bill O'LIElly... LOL). What kind of a person would I be if I didn't balance things out and release Stillmatic [The Samples]?

If you weren't living in a cave throughout 2001 (and 02, 03, 04 for that matter...) you'd know all about the battle of the East: Jay-Z vs. Nas. In my personal opinion, I feel that Stillmatic earned it's 5 Mics in The Source simply to counter Jay's own 5 Mic award, and hype up the 2001 "beef". That's just me... In my book, Blueprint > Stillmatic, BUT they're both great albums nonetheless!

Though not as sample-heavy as Jigga's Blueprint, Stillmatic was peppered with a somewhat wider array of aural textures, ranging from the porcelain lilts of Stacy Lattisaw, to the shouts and hollers of 2Pac at his most virulent and raunchy moments. From the folksy, rural resonance of Rodriguez, to the hard-knocking kicks of Scott La Rock's production with KRS-One's bombastic lyrics from the Bronx (the South, South Bronx... ;-P).

Anyways, without further ado, it's my honor to present to you the full set of samples used on Nas' 2001 album, Stillmatic.
